where Eduard Douwes Dekker was born rather small but an
amazing book collection Max havelaar was translated in 39 languages
and most of them are in the museum.
Discovered that Multatuli was cremated in Germany 1887 as the first
Dutchman to be cremated

the travel agency,donated his collection on his death in 1955 to the NAtional Arts
Collection Fund the largest single donnation ever given throughout England
Two artdealers Noel Desenfans and Francis Bourgeois left their collections to the
Gallery which became the first public art gallery in england built by John Soane
